The Role:
Dematic Corp. has a need for a CAD Designer in our Lifecycle Solutions & Services (LSS) group. The preferred candidate will have experience working in the material handling industry. Candidates must have the below qualifications:
• The ability to work proficiently within the AutoCAD Electrical (ACADE) environment or comparable design tool.
• Experience with controls hardware design, including control panel design.
• Willingness to work overtime is expected.
• Minimum of 1-4 years of successful experience in related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Tasks and Qualifications:This Is What You Will Do in This Role:CAD Design and Documentation – Using Prescribed Guidelines and Policies
- Create and modify electrical schematic drawings, panel layouts, mechanical layouts, and device drawings using AutoCAD 2024.
- Edit, create, and modify Bills of Material (BOMs) within drawings.
- Review engineer-submitted red-lines and drawings, providing feedback as needed.
- Perform quality checks on engineering drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Research historical projects to interpret and update drawing documentation.
- Utilize Bluebeam for receiving mark-ups and collaborating with engineers.
- Support engineers in troubleshooting CAD tools and ensuring proper formatting.
- Develop and modify best practices and standard operating procedures, applying continuous improvement methodologies.
- Uses knowledge and familiarity of basic electrical concepts, wiring, industrial fusing and circuit protection in creation of schematic drawings
- Uses knowledge and familiarity of common network architectures to create network drawings
- Use and access 3D Experience to locate current and up-to-date documentation for specific sites and projects
- Learn and adapt to legacy CAD systems as needed (VDR, Microstation, Legacy AutoCAD).
- Research old project sites and documentation
- Utilize Bluebeam to receive mark-ups and communicate with engineers
- Expected to learn existing CAD Designer Process such as:
- Correctly generate and attribute symbols according to standard for drawing
- Correctly copy symbols as needed
Collaboration and Communication – Using Prescribed Guidelines and Policies
- Work directly with engineering counterparts to deliver accurate and timely drawings.
- Receive and manage drawing update requests via email and department tools.
- View and access project schedules to understand design timelines and drawing deliverables.
- View job assignments in department-wide JIRA tool
- Communicate proactively with engineers and CAD requestors regarding project progress.
- Participate in one-on-one meetings with supervisors to discuss workload and capacity.
- Provide regular status updates in department tools as tasks progress and are completed.
- Utilize Microsoft Teams and Office Suite
- Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams
Reporting, Administration, and Travel – Using Prescribed Guidelines and Policies
- Enter time worked in SAP and/or other time-keeping systems.
- Maintain accurate project and task status documentation for internal tracking.
- Rare travel may be required (<5%) for projects without existing documentation or for unique assignments.
