Finance & Business Management's goals are to ensure sound control environments and provide financial advice to support the business strategy. Within F&BM, the Controllers organization is responsible for ensuring the overall integrity and validity of the financial statements and controls over the transaction cycle; performing critical reporting functions for the organization, both financial and regulatory, as well as ensuring execution and implementation of the overall financial architecture.
Role Description
This role supports the Americas GIB function covering Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Equity Capital Markets (ECM), and the Americas Client Billing function. As a product controller, you will contribute to the integrity and accuracy of the financial statements and support the governance of the transaction control cycle.
This position offers a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual to develop a strong understanding of GIB products and become a valued partner to various Finance Teams, while building relationships with business leaders as well as Corporate and CIB Central Finance Teams. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong accounting, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills, which are critical for collaborating across multiple functions and regions. The role also emphasizes innovation, intelligent solutions, and active participation in projects.
Job Responsibilities
  • Support all aspects of Americas GIB Product Control, including daily P&L and risk reporting, month-end close, analysis of revenue drivers, balance sheet movements, and linkage of business activity to full financial results.
  • Partner with Americas GIB businesses and wider functions (Business Management, Middle Office, Technology, Corporate Accounting Policies, Legal, Front Office, and Financial Control) to provide effective support and control oversight, helping to maintain a strong control environment and facilitate business growth.
  • Provide accounting guidance to the business and support the management of impacts to product control from legal entity and regulatory changes, as well as Volcker Reporting.
  • Participate in the identification of control issues/risks and contribute to the implementation of effective control processes, driving increased efficiency and innovation.
  • Engage in select global initiatives and participate in Americas GIB and finance-related projects, including enhancements to global systems and processes such as Aqueduct, Aggregator, and Client Billing System enhancements.
  • Support Internal Audit and/or Risk-driven product reviews and product deep dives for the region, and participate in new product approvals (NBIA's) from a finance control perspective.
  • Ensure compliance with control policies, standards, and procedures - e.g., P&L and Risk minimum standards compliance, Product Control accountability standards, Income attribution (GMRA), SAPCo (GMSA) compliance, and Volcker compliance.
  • Contribute innovative and intelligent solutions to improve processes and controls, and actively participate in projects and initiatives to drive continuous improvement

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
  • Qualified accountant or equivalent with 3-6 years' experience, with a strong accounting and control background.
  • Experience with Investment Banking products, with sound commercial acumen and financial services industry awareness across multiple asset classes.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve control and risk management issues that may impact financial results.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on innovation and intelligent solutions.
  • Confident communicator who can work effectively with partners and stakeholders and performs well under pressure.
  • Strong control mindset and attention to detail, with the ability to challenge the status quo, generate ideas, and drive solutions to completion.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Enthusiastic, highly motivated, and committed individual, eager to learn and contribute to team success.
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese is required.
  • Proficiency in Alteryx, Tableau, UIPath, Qlik, and Business Objects.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
  • Knowledge of Python would be highly appreciated.
  • Spanish is considered a plus.
