Purpose:
Reporting to the AVP, Deputy Chief Risk Officer Bermuda, this position is responsible for assisting with the implementation of robust governance frameworks to ensure compliance with regulations and supporting risk assessment of new reinsurance transactions for the Bermuda office.Accountabilities:
- Assist in the development, implementation, and ongoing governance of Athene’s Scenario Based Approach (SBA) framework
- Assess compliance of models with internal model risk management standards
- Support the integrity and accuracy of models through reviewing and recommending changes to control frameworks and continuous improvements
- Support risk assessments for new reinsurance transactions, including pricing, underwriting, and operational risks
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to evaluate and critique assumptions and methodologies used in valuation, pricing and financial models
- Assist with meeting materials for the SBA Committee, board of directors, executive committees, and regulatory bodies as required
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, or related field
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) or higher, or equivalent qualification of other Actuarial professional organization
- 6+ years’ experience working in the life insurance industry
- Experience with fixed rate and indexed annuities strongly preferred
- Ability to interact with internal senior management and client company management
- Excellent oral and written English language skills
- Ability to effectively participate in, and help foster, a team-based work environment
- An ability to set and manage priorities in a changing work environment is essential
