We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our growing Finance team. Reporting directly to the Senior Finance Manager, you will be an integral part of a small team of four. To thrive at Smarkets, you will need to be open-minded, personable, and have a keen eye for detail, with the ability to analyze and communicate insights from data.

- 1+ years of public practice experience
- Experience with Xero accounting software is desirable
- Experience with working with auditors - desirable but not essential
- Part-qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) - desirable but not essential
- Degree in Accounting or related business field - desirable but not essential
- Have worked or are curious to work in an agile, start-up like environment
- Have experience or are keen to work in a multi-disciplinary team/across different teams
- Prepare and enter AP invoices into the accounting system
- Review and reconcile bank statements on a regular basis to ensure accuracy
- Perform accounts payable (AP) balance sheet reconciliation and resolve any issues arising (e.g. requesting VAT invoices to clear debit balances)
- Review open Purchase Orders and determine if they should be closed or deleted
- Ensure all supplier accounts are reconciled against supplier statements
- Assist in preparing and scheduling payments in accordance with company policies
- Handle daily vendor payment queries to ensure timely internal and external communication
- Review all staff expenses, send for manager approvals and ensure prompt payments
- Monitor daily cash flows, ensuring sufficient funds are available for operations
- Provide weekly and monthly reports to regulated gaming authorities, ensuring compliance with regulations
- Support the Senior Finance Manager in the preparation of monthly Management Accounts, including posting journal entries
- Assist in the Financial Audit process by gathering required documentation and providing support during audits
