Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Accounting Manager to join our growing finance team. As the second employee in the function reporting to the Director of Finance and Strategy, you will take ownership of the company's accounting operations, including monthly close, revenue recognition, invoicing, accounts payable, and audit preparation. You will manage Cove's outsourced bookkeepers, and will work cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Success, and Product to ensure accurate financial reporting to support strategic decision-making as the company scales.
The ideal candidate brings experience in B2B SaaS accounting, is passionate about building scalable processes, comfortable working in a dynamic startup environment, and skilled at leading projects with minimal oversight. Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting & Close
    • Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process in accordance with U.S. GAAP
    • Deliver timely and accurate financials (P&L, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows, AR/AP Aging, etc.)
  • Accounting Operations
    • Oversee monthly billing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable processes
    • Manage the general ledger and chart of accounts. Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals to ensure all transactions are properly recorded
  • System & Process Improvement
    • Identify areas for automation or efficiency improvements and execute on recommendations to reduce manual work
    • Support system integrations with tools like HubSpot, Quotapath, payroll providers, etc.
  • Compliance & Audit
    • Support external audits and tax compliance, coordinating with auditors and tax advisors
    • Develop and document accounting policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with internal controls
  • Team leadership
    • Supervise our outsourced bookkeeping firm
    • Provide strategic support to leadership and department heads as we continue to scale

About You
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years at a SaaS company
  • Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP with strong knowledge about ASC 606
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online and Maxio billing / revenue recognition software (formerly SaaSOptics)
  • Previously worked at a private equity backed high growth company
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, with advanced understanding of financial modeling and Excel
  • Highly organized, with a bias for action and continuous improvement
  • Startup or high-growth environment experience strongly preferred
  • Experience being audited by a mid-sized public accountancy firm
  • Nice to have:
    • Familiarity with ERP (Netsuite / Sage Intacct) and finance system implementations
    • Exposure to multi-entity consolidation
