Job Description
As the Senior Accounting Manager, you will be a critical partner responsible for supporting the creation of scalable, best-in-class finance & accounting department. You will help build and oversee the day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring that robust financial processes are in place at each newly acquired OpCo and completed in a timely and correct manner. Moreover, this role will require you to be an effective trainer and evaluator of talent. Your expertise, you will help shape the decision-making process regarding how we structure the finance & accounting departments at each of our newly acquired OpCos. With that in mind, this is an opportunity for someone who can marry strong finance & accounting skills, business acumen, and strategic thinking to take on a management role at a high-growth organization, backed by a well-known financial sponsor in Alpine Investors.
Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Orion Group Assistant Controller and Chief Accounting Officer, you will play a key role in establishing and executing financial and accounting operations. This will include, but is not limited to:
- Assisting with the month end close process by reviewing workpapers prepared by the Orion Senior and Staff accountants balances that are reported on the balance sheet for accuracy and completeness as well as compliance with US GAAP
- Ability to train newly acquired OpCo teams to ensure the books, monthly reporting packages, and workpapers are supported by balances reported by the OpCo
- Providing management with information and insights vital to the decision-making process related to teams monthly accounting process and results.
- Interfacing directly with OpCo financial teams and building relationships with key personnel
- Maintaining constant lines of communication with OpCo teams to understand their needs and/or concerns
- Assisting with various financial audits (year-end FS audit and Opening balance sheet audits), by helping to review various work papers prepared for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with US GAAP
- Coordinating with the auditors on timing as well as working closely with the Orion and OpCo accounting teams in responding to open item requests
- Assisting with requests made to OpCos from Orion for financial information and detail
- Assist with month end close for multiple holding companies
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 5+ years in Accounting or Finance roles
- CPA Required
- Excellent knowledge of US GAAP
- Knowledge of ASC 606, 842 and 805 accounting principles
- Knowledge of Cost Accounting, percentage of completion
- Proven experience and expertise working within ERP systems
- Proven experience working cross-functionally to complete projects and/or other initiatives
- Proven experience and knowledge with financial planning, reporting, and variance analysis
- Proven ability to communicate accounting and financial information into common language
