About the Team

Many of our Large Accounts and Brand Team Clients have been Global Edelman clients for many years. We have dedicated Edelman teams working for Large Clients all over the world, in the US, LATAM, EMEA, and APAC.
 In Japan, for most of our Large Accounts and Brand Team Clients work, we have integrated teams which are made up of experts in brand strategy, corporate reputation, digital, creative, financial and capital markets. The accounts, communication landscape and expectations from our clients are rapidly evolving, and we need to ensure we have an integrated team with members working across different sectors and diverse expertise both within and outside of Edelman network to help our clients achieve the best communication that is strategically designed. We are looking for a passionate professional with strong capabilities and experience in managing and growing our client accounts with a strong sense of leadership and team spirit, coaching and managing junior team members, and ability to keep us on track as we keep growing. 
 
The Role

The purpose of this role is to manage the day to day works for our Large/mid [MI1] Global Clients and/or for our Brand Team local clients. You will be required to help manage a fast-moving, dynamic team of around 3-10 people of different expertise and work with the team’s leadership members to ensure day-to-day delivery on brief, on time and on budget. In addition to the day-to-day client teams, you will be also working with Edelman’s Integrated Solutions teams (strategic planner, creative and digital.. etc.) to help solve a diverse set of challenges for Clients and ensuring the integration between all the different parts of the team is working seamlessly.
 
We are looking for an experienced Supervisor/Sr. Supervisor having a knowledge of brand building but also corporate reputation and media landscape around traditional media. A successful candidate should have a proven track record of delivering a wide range of project types and always be on top of a complex set of issues. Ideally, this candidate should have an experience in working with large Japanese or non-Japanese international companies and have a passion for various categories including Tech, F&B, Health.
We’re also looking for someone who isn’t afraid to network and develop new relationships across a wide variety of media and influencer contacts, spanning from broadcast, news, consumer, online and specialist media to individual influencers. And also someone who can proactively leverage AI to improve operational efficiency and the quality of deliverables.

Day to Day Client Handling:

  • Serving as the daily client contact and straddling teams across Edelman.
  • Facilitate integration of Edelman teams as well as management of the external business partners when necessary.
  • Ability to provide strategic thinking to the team and be a consultant for the client.
  • Excellent presentation skills to be able to take a lead role in presenting seasonal and project plans to clients.
  • Earning the trust of clients to deliver day to day work as well as providing proactive counsel on new approaches or ideas that will help meet client’s broader objectives.

Developing media strategies and running end to end integrated campaigns:

  • Working collaboratively alongside client leads, creative and digital teams to plan projects and respond to briefs
  • Playing a key role in the research, planning and development of campaigns and driving these forward
  • An ability to segment stories by angles for specialist verticals and journalist beats
  • Practical and solid understanding of the earned, owned, paid and social media space and how to incorporate these channels into client plans for holistic communications programs
  • Pitching ideas convincingly to media, clients and colleagues
  • Lead point of day to day contact for PR and communications counsel (across client organizations)
  • Managing workback plans and project timelines and budget/cost management.
  • Be a core member of the team that owns the client communication by managing reactive media enquiries and escalating issues as and when required. This will also include occasional weekend support for clients.
  • Liaison with other Edelman offices around the world.

The ideal candidate for this role will have/be:

  • Desire to work as part of a large team in a busy, fast paced and highly motivated working environment
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, ability to articulate point of view with confidence and gravitas
  • A keen eye for an earned media story with legs across news, consumer, online and digital spheres
  • Proven track record in prioritizing workload as well as supporting junior team members
  • Ability to work in a matrix structure, and prioritize deliverables
  • Ability to balance ‘quick hits’ and longer term strategy and understanding the difference
  • Team player, collaborative, non-hierarchical with experience coaching junior members of the team
  • Ability to manage both up and down and take overall responsibility of day to day client deliverables
  • Experience of integrating with different practices / teams on cross-business work, ability to work collaboratively with a variety of people to meet client expectations
  • Interest in current affairs, news, international business, and consumes media in all forms
  • A creative problem solver
  • A delivery-driven manager, with ability to take responsibility of tasks and accounts
  • A desire to share previous expertise and experience to enhance work of the team
  • Keen to carve out distinctive role and use own initiative to help the running of the team
