General Description:
The Materials & Microsystems Laboratory is seeking an experienced technical project manager to join a talented, multidisciplinary team within the Advanced Test Systems (ATS) Department. In this role, you will lead a team of TPMs, working closely with program managers, technical leads, and other business functions to successfully design, develop, and build advanced cryogenic test systems in support of HRL’s world leading silicon quantum dot technologies.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervisory or managerial experience in one more technical projects required.
Essential Duties:
Lead the TPM team, partnering with Technical Leads to define top priority initiatives, priorities, and timelines with cross-functional stakeholders.
Provide mentorship and constructive feedback to support employee development.
Serve as a liaison for the technical teams to drive effective communication and support sound decision making with program managers, systems engineers, and relevant stakeholders.
Help build relationships with customers through strategic planning and execution excellence.
Responsible for engineering reviews and risk management, driving clear actionable plans to close gaps.
Recommend, develop, and implement critical engineering and/or business processes and tools to increase the quality of product lifecycle execution
Required Skills:
15+ years of professional experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.
Experience working in low technology readiness level / R&D environments.
Experience in a relevant industry or technical area such as hardware/product development, electronics, or quantum physics.
Excellent communication skills; includes oral and written.
Expertise with project management and risk management tools
Demonstrated success in project planning, resource planning and allocation, management of multi-disciplinary teams in a R&D and/or operations environment.
Ability to build partnerships and drive decision making with cross-functional stakeholders.
Experience with ERP, MRP, Data Management and Configuration Management systems a plus.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
Experience as a project leader with project management responsibilities.
Special Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Must have or be willing to apply for and maintain a security clearance.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $163,150 - $209,088 + bonus + benefits.
