Sr. Process Controls Supervisor

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Global Technical Center on a full-time basis.
The Role
The Sr. Process Controls Supervisor is responsible for the Program Execution for Machine Controls. Work will be performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or assembly/plant activity where a considerable amount of creativity and initiative is exercised as well as a high level of independent judgment.
What You Will Do (Responsibilities)
- New program implementation/execution (SOR prep, forecasting, controls/robotics design, equipment build/run-off and buyoff)
- Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high-quality parts
- Manage deliveries to program timing milestones
- Provide project report outs to senior management
- Existing program/site support (troubleshooting, etc.)
- Provide technical direction to less experienced controls engineers.
- Design and troubleshooting of electrical controls systems
- Provide technical direction to less experienced controls engineers
- People Leader responsibilities for direct reports including but not limited to: CAP - goal setting, mid-year and year-end review. Managing results and evaluating/coaching individual performance. Compensation planning and communication. Training and development planning
- Support manager with general administrative tasks such as managing budget targets, approving travel requests, expense reports, PTAS and purchasing request & planning vacation schedules
- Work may involve development and testing of advanced process technology
- Travel as required (up to 75%)
Additional Description
Your Skills And Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- 5+ years of experience as a controls engineer
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical/control systems and the ability to apply these concepts within a manufacturing environment
- Experience in Allen Bradley PLC and Siemens HMI programming, Ethernet and/or Devicenet networks
- Ability to design and trouble shoot electrical controls systems
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple challenging projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
- Proven ability in project management skills
- Multiple different manufacturing controls assignments with successful individual achievements
- Ability to use computer, interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and learn new systems
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Demonstrated understanding of plant floor work
- General knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics is a plus
- Prior work experience as a controls engineer in the automotive field
- Knowledge of GM's global controls architecture
- Experience managing people/leading a team
