Crusoe Energy is on a mission to unlock value in stranded energy resources through the power of computation.

Take a look at what we do! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rlt8k71Quqw

We aim to align the long term interests of the climate with the future of global computing infrastructure. As data centers consume an exponentially growing power footprint to deliver technology to all connected devices, we are inspired by making sure that the energy meeting that demand is sourced in an environmentally responsible fashion. Crusoe co-locates mobile data centers with stranded energy resources, like flare gas and underloaded renewables, to deliver low-cost, carbon-negative distributed computing solutions. Crusoe Cloud is a managed cloud services platform powered by stranded energy that enables climate-friendly innovation in computationally intensive fields including artificial intelligence, graphics rendering and computational biology.

About This Role:

Crusoe is hiring a Director of Design to accelerate the growth of our vertically integrated, carbon-reducing AI infrastructure company.

Our purpose built AI/ML platform emphasizes simplicity, stability and functionality as we help make cloud infrastructure turnkey for the masses. Vertical integration has been Crusoe’s bread and butter and it’s punctuated by beautiful design that prioritizes the customer experience. Under your guidance, Crusoe will become the world’s favorite AI cloud.

A Day in the Life:

  • Work with the executive team and other stakeholders to define and evolve Crusoe’s brand.

  • Work with our public affairs, marketing, product and engineering teams to deliver a unified, cohesive product vision.

  • Work closely with product managers across the organization to develop a roadmap.

  • Lead product discovery conversations and use interactive prototypes to solicit feedback from current and prospective customers.

  • Use your deep understanding of customer personas to create simple, intuitive designs to meet them where they are.

  • Produce visual and interaction designs from concept to delivery. Lead the creation of a cohesive visual language across all of our products.

  • Create wireframes, journey maps, user jobs and scenarios, task flows, and personas in support of interaction designs.

  • Define, build, and manage assets for our design system (e.g. user interface controls, navigation models, dashboard interfaces, content templates, icons, and form design).

You Will Thrive In This Role If:

  • 10+ years of experience as a product designer in a creative environment.

  • 5+ years of experience managing designers, researchers and UX developers in a fast-paced, multi-product environment.

  • End-to-end design skills (from ideation to prototyping and development-ready design files).

  • Outstanding portfolio showing deep product understanding and craftspersonship, both UI and UX.

  • Desire and ability to drive user experience research and customer calls to best understand customer needs.

  • Experience building or designing software for tradespeople or technicians (e.g. energy, manufacturing, or construction) is a plus, but not a requirement.

  • Thorough understanding of design systems (Figma Variables, Storybook, Atomic approach, Chromatic) and design theory (typography, color, grid, etc.).

  • Willingness to adopt new tools and workflows (we primarily use Figma).

  • Solid understanding of cross-platform design systems and technical frameworks.

  • Able to work with cross-functional stakeholders to drive consensus around design systems, branding, and development.

  • Self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Thrives in ambiguity and sets goals.

  • An entrepreneurial spirit with a willingness to frame and define existing/emerging opportunity spaces and success criteria often within ambiguous spaces.

  • Must be able to pass a background check.

  • Embody the Company values.

Benefits:
